The one that comes to mind and was the most impactful was self forgiveness when it came to forgiving myself for Christopher’s death when I was 16.
I had never even thought of how much that affected me. For a season I was mad at the doctor and God for what had happened but in reality I felt as much to blame as anyone.
I had worked through being angry with God and after MANY years forgave the doctor.
That left only one I had not forgiven, myself. The inner healing that day was real and I felt at peace about his death once and for all.
As far as how we got there that day, you’d know better than me. All I know is that it came out and was replaced by peace.
He was born on February 16, 1971 and died on February 18, 1971. Even though I have forgiven myself, I still shed tears every year around this time.
Afterward, I felt drawn to help others who were carrying self-guilt like I had been. It became easier to recognize it in others.

Through her, I now understand more about the impact my past has had on my present and how to bring those things into God’s presence for deeper peace and healing.
